Write It Down

I recently began reading a book by Mark & Patti Virkler called “4 Keys to Hearing God’s Voice.” In it they talk about the importance of journaling as we pray, and I couldn’t agree more because in fact I’ve kept a journal of my prayers, dreams, and other life experiences for over 30 years. Not only is it my way of praying, but of keeping record or testimony of my life for my children.  My hope is that some day when I’m gone, my journals will be a record of encouragement to them.  I want my kids to read that even when times were really bad, I never gave up on the power of God to turn every situation around for my good; a record of hope.  Romans 8:28 – “And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.”

Also, in Revelation 12 it says a lot of things I don’t understand, but this one thing that I do: “And they have defeated him (the accuser) by the blood of the Lamb and by their testimony.”  Our testimony then becomes the powerful proof we need for making a case against the lies and hopelessness we’re faced with in life.  God is for us, not against us.  Watching and keeping record of His answers to our prayers, gives Him credit for all that’s good in life. James 1:17 says, “Whatever is good and perfect comes down to us from God our Father, who created all the lights in the heavens. He never changes or casts a shifting shadow.”  There are times I know I would have missed God’s perfect goodness, or simply forgotten about it, if I hadn’t written it down.

So . . . don’t lose hope!  Pray.  Keep a journal.  Expect an answer. Write down what you see God doing – what you hear Him saying.  He’s speaking to you every day.  He wants you to hear His voice.  His love for you is amazing.  He hasn’t forgotten you.  He hears the cry of your heart and He is answering.   Write it down!
