Seeing God – and new song “You’re With Me”

The Bible tells us that God will never leave us or forsake us.  Think about it.  He’s with us every second, of every minute, of every hour, of every day . . . when we’re working, when we’re in our beds asleep . . . but we don’t see Him.  And seeing God where you are can be such a challenge, because we don’t see with our physical eyes.  Therefore, we have to see Him differently.  We have to see God in more creative ways – in people, in nature, in a story.

Jesus used stories, or parables, over and over again throughout the gospels to illustrate what the Kingdom of God is like. He told these parables to the crowds who came to hear Him speak – those who were not yet believers.  Matthew 13:34 says,   “Jesus always used stories and illustrations like these when speaking to the crowds. In fact, he never spoke to them without using such parables.”  Why did Jesus speak only in parables when addressing the masses?  I believe it’s because He was giving them opportunity to hear and think for themselves; to think outside the box of religious dictations.   He wanted those listening, to hear the truth and get a revelation of what it meant.  They could then “see it”  for themselves looking with the eyes of their hearts!

When we see for ourselves who Jesus really is (to begin with – Savior and Lord),  then we also become aware of the fact that we are also seen and known BY Him – and have always been seen and known by Him.   What a fascinating thing . . . like falling in love; when you feel you’ve known someone all your life, but you’ve only just met.  This is the inspiration behind my new song “You’re With Me.”  Read the lyrics below and click on Music to listen.

You can make the snowflakes
Count the sand on the shores
Leave the ninety-nine
To find what is Yours
Find what is Yours

You hold all things together
Know the ways of man
Every bird and feather
In the palm of Your hand
The palm of Your hand

And I see You where I am
I know You are with me
I don’t have to fear
No, I don’t have to fear
You’re with me

Hope that’s never fleeting
Love that is the same
A band of hallelujahs
Bring glory to Your name
Bring glory to Your name

And I see You where I am
I know You are with me
I don’t have to fear
No, I don’t have to fear
You’re with me

You know, You see, You love, and we believe

And I see You where I am
I know You’re with me
I don’t have to fear
No, I don’t have to fear
You’re with me
