A frigid, drizzling rain is falling from a ghostly sky
Countless water droplets splashing upon every square inch of available surface
Gliding gently down the sloped and tattered rooftop
Pooling for a moment on the dark wooden deck only to dribble through the cracks
Gathering together to drip and drip again from the patio light strings
Droplets hang in suspension, like tiny light bulbs, from the berries that have already dried on wintered crepe myrtles
A stark stillness foreshadows the coming storm
As I sit, viewing it all, from my picture window
Wet, cold, dim and gray
So it is on this rainy day
