As I looked out the window this morning, reached for my Bible and began to read, I had to laugh a little. On this cold, overcast and rainy day . . . again . . . the scripture verse I read was Psalm 118:24 “This is the day the Lord has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it.”
Really . . . if “overcast and rainy” is my only complaint today, which it kind of is (actually only slight disappointment), then I am TRULY blessed! Because the real truth is, just knowing and always remembering that God loves me and hears my prayers – for my husband, my children, my grandchildren, my friends, my community, my state, my country, and my friends and other countries around the world . . . the fact that I have access and unified connection with the Creator of our planet and the universe . . . that He not only holds me close in divine comfort and peace, but has empowered me with gifts to bless others . . . that He has given me a book that is filled with letters, stories and promises straight from His heart, giving me HOPE each and every day . . . that His Holy Spirit is my teacher, my comforter, protector, my guide throughout this life on Earth . . . THIS is the truth that is solid beneath me and open above me. THIS is what causes joy to flow through my being like a river flows through a valley, carrying me from one beautiful blessing to another. THIS is why I can “rejoice and be glad!”
