I’ve been in the studio writing and developing new songs for my upcoming project, and one of them is called “Nathanael’s Song.” I heard it in my head while leading worship in church a few months ago. It began as a kind of “African” language, then the English lyrics came along after that speak from God’s perspective of seeing us, and being with us, wherever we go, in whatever we’re doing. This reminded me of a man I’ve read about in New Testament scripture (in the book of John) named Nathanael who experienced an extraordinary revelation of Jesus as Messiah simply because Jesus said to him, “I saw you . . .” It’s a beautiful thing to get the revelation that God loves you so much that He chooses to be with you, participating in every aspect of your life. Nathanael was a skeptic, but he quickly became a believer when he realized the truth of God’s love for him.
Philip found Nathanael and told him, “We have found the one Moses wrote about in the Law, and about whom the prophets also wrote–Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.”
“Nazareth! Can anything good come from there?” Nathanael asked. “Come and see,” said Philip.
When Jesus saw Nathanael approaching, he said of him, “Here is a true Israelite, in whom there is nothing false.”
“How do you know me?” Nathanael asked. Jesus answered, “I saw you while you were still under the fig tree before Philip called you.”
Then Nathanael declared, “Rabbi, you are the Son of God; you are the King of Israel.”
Jesus said, “You believe because I told you I saw you under the fig tree. You shall see greater things than that.”
Dear Mary-Kathryn, Thanks for keeping us on your mailing list. We remember you and Elliot with fondness especially when you came to visit us in Devine, TX. We have lived in Las Cruces, NM for over 20 years when we moved here to take care of Lester’s parents. They both have since passed away and Lester keeps busy being Chaplain of the Las Cruces Gospel Rescue Mission. I retired from one of our local hospital about 15 years ago. We are active in First Assembly of God Church here and enjoy our church family very much. I had a total hip replacement March 10 and have done very well. Paul and family seem to be doing well and busy in San Antonio. Blessings to you and your family. Continued success in your music. Love, Lester and Eleanor Heinzman
Hi there,
I haven’t been on your site for a very long time. I got on tonight and read about your new up coming CD.
Sunday night at my church we read about Nathanael and I was amazed to see it brought up again.
HMMMM, what’s God doing and what does he want me to know ? 🙂
Thank you for your music and your willingness to be used by God.
Blessing,
Annie Willows
Great to hear from you, Heinzman family, and so glad you’re doing well. Blessings to you guys!
Also, thanks so much for your comment, Annie. Isn’t it cool when God shows us something, in different ways and over a short period of time, to make a point. It really gets our attention, doesn’t it? I think He wants you to just ponder the fact that He’s with you and cares about every detail of your life, which is so awesome. Richest blessings to you!

You may remember, but I’ll go ahead and mention that I had the honor of visiting with you at AnnJanette’s Christmas party last December. At the time, I was 8 months along with our youngest child, and we still had not decided what to name him. However, interestingly enough, I was reminded of a little story near the end of John 1, and it spoke to my husband and me so deeply that we named our baby in honor of the man who recognized Jesus so readily. The man was — you guessed it — Nathanael! Our baby Nathanael is now 8 months old, and such a joy to our hearts. We pray he grows up to become a strong man of God. (I would love to introduce him to you one day!) And in the meantime, I eagerly anticipate the release of “Nathanael’s Song”.
Blessings to you, dear sister!
Mary-Kathryn
My name is Nathanael (my parents named me after the apostle Nathanael that mentioned in John 1) and I believe the Lord gave you that song for many, but especially for me. I’m in a unique season in my life, where Daddy is showing me how near and how involved He is… I’m literally overwhelmed by His love right now. Just when I think He has been extravagant enough, He leads me through a series of events to land me at your website and find this song. It is a prophetic word for me right now… I write this with tears, that Abba used you to bless a brother. I’m so thankful for His love… keep listening to His heart, sister. You don’t know who you are touching!
Nathanael, your message is such a gift. I read it with tears, as well. I’m so grateful you took the time to share this with me.
Richest blessings to you always!
